I tried to understand you in words,
in gestures
and how you acted
but I only got the shell of you,
the shattered, battered shell.
I could never get any deeper
than the surface,
the outside,
the façade,
till that moment on the rainy beach,
were we walked out a fight in bitter silence,
when you turned round to face me,
to say that you were scared
to lose me
too.
I never loved you more
and never would love you less
in the future
that now almost is our past.
Because in that moment
I understood you
for always.

You’ve “captured” that moment well.
Hi Carl, thank you! π
Just yesterday, my girlfriend and I talked about “knowing” one another. It is a conversation we will always have.
Hi Walter
I suppose we never get to know each other totally, and that keeps it interesting π
How one moment, one act, one word can totally change the perspective… Mooi gevat, Ina!
Hoi Gladiuspoeticus, dank je wel!

Hi David
thank you very much for thinking so! This one was written in a flow, in a few minutes, which always makes me wonder if it is okay to post or not. I suppose it was!

So cute and inspiring β₯
Hi evlinymphstuff
thank you very much β₯ π
Your poetry is simply getting better, Ina. This is how we are, I guess, always trying to understand each other, failing, then getting a moment of revelation, then going on into the strength of love as the cycle starts over again. A wonderful poem.
Hi Thomas
thank you very much. We have the biggest, most rewarding quest when we try to find out about the other, I think. And we shall always fail, but sometimes there is a flash that makes up for every failure? π

Top notch π
Hi Michael, thank you very much! I hope you are doing well!
Your words – so well crafted to echo experiences common to us all – is this not the poet’s work? If so, you should be proud that in reaching out in your poetry you have touched us deeply…
Hi Clinock, thank you very much. I think you are right, when I read a poem that says what I wanted to think, I always have a deep love for poetry for a moment!
Right on Ina…
Beautifully done, as ever, Ina!
Hi David, thank you very much π
