Point taken

‘Will you stop comparing Autumn
with how old we are,’ you said.
‘Look at the leaves, look at your skull,’
I answered. ‘Leaves falling, hair loss?’
You said:
‘I can always put on a hat
and die much later in June
but Autumn trees stay dead
and naked till Spring
and then have a come back.’
I shall not compare you to a rose either.
