What will remain

What image will remain
in latest thoughts of life
when everything has been?

Perhaps it’s that of meadows where we ran,
of sea that gave us peace,
of a fine place we’ve seen?

It might be sunshine, how the dust was dancing,
or will it be the face we knew
that loved us to the bone?

With eyes already closed for ever,
I shall hope to think of you
and go distracted, not alone.

  1. Hi Ina,

This is lovely in its gentle melancholy. “And go distracted, not alone”, a lovely line that sums up the whole poem for me.

    Love and hugs xx

  2. That is lovely

  3. Nostalgia & melancholy, thoughtful…

  4. Another beauty Ina – you floor me…
