Scent of a wanted space

I would have liked to keep this empty room
just for some thoughts, for drawing faces,
or to watch the view of goats
grazing on the dune, an empty room of possibilities,
with a table and a chair and nothing more.

But practically, the room is used for laundry and to store
(books and boxes) , to give our guests a bed.
Only in my mind I have this room
and in reality, I hang the wet clothes there to dry.
I’ve grown to love the scent of fabric softener though.
