Every day the earth changes a little,
mountains move down or up, onwards,
rivers bend slowly in new directions.
Oceans take over land while deserts
expand their territories.
The noise of the seasons,
new life replacing the old,
squeakingly this planet turns,
spinning faster than ever.
And all of this is happening
while you and I stand here
watching the Sun set,
knowing it is not the Sun that sets,
but the Earth changing
little by little. Into what?

Thank you! π I am glad.
Loved it Ina.
My answer, global warming.
Hi Harry, thank you, so you say global warming is at least an answer to something π
The ancient river never changes and has been so for thousands of years. Yet it is not the same river it was just a moment ago. The dynamic of our current age is that there is no status quo. Change has replaced it as the status quo.
Hi Carl
that is deep. Thank you for this comment. π
I like the contrast of the first two objective verses against the last subjective verse, an effective way at illustrating the human condition. Very nice Ina!
Hi David, thank you very much! π I didn’t realise that… true!
Hi Ina,
Yoou have put these thoughts really well.
I often “stand here” wondering what’s going on and where.
Love and hugs x
hi Christine, thank you very much! π

Beautiful, Ina – I love the line about the earth turning ‘squeakingly’. And that’s quite a question you leave us with at the end – what indeed? I’ve reached the stage in my development as an Anxious Parent where I’m now wondering what kind of world my daughter’s children will live in. And I really don’t know the answer to that, either. N.xx
Hi Nick, thank you very much. Squeakingly didn’t make it through the proof read, but I decided it is a word π
I can tell you that the Anxious Parenthood gets better the more we can trust in the qualities of our children. Once they can take care of them selves more or less and make their own mistakes without you helping them out, you know their future will be better than we might think. It will be their world and every generation makes the most of it π
I was taking care of my granddaughter yesterday and she is so strong! I am amazed to feel that fysical strength in such a young baby. It made me confident she will be okay in future. π
xx

A ‘little’ knowledge can be dangerous…unless it admits the wisdom of surrendering to mystery.
π To be wise! That would be nice!
