Some thoughts I leave behind in sea
no longer more a part of me.
They can drift off to other strands,
it’s here where our aquaintance ends
and if they shipwreck somewhere far
I hope it will be where you are.
Please bury them with some respect;
they once were thoughts, of you, in fact.

  1. Very nice, Ina, especially the ending, slightly unexpected but all the better for it. 🙂

  2. A lovely poem Ina.

  3. Sad, but to the point. Tight write.

  4. Oh Ina, I just love this – and the ending! I can relate…. Wonderful poem.

    • Hi Betty, thank you very much 🙂 I suppose we all have thoughts that we could do away with 🙂

  5. Beautiful, every once in a while to let go of some old ones to make room for fresh new ones…..lovely poetry Ina

    • Hi Soma, thank you very much! It seems like a plan 🙂 I like the idea of them drifting away lol.

  6. Attach the thoughts to a stone Ina and skim them far away 🙂

    • Hi David

That would be a good way to toss them in sea 🙂 I think I must have been inspired by your poem!

  7. Melanchoy and beautiful

And the poem makes the picture melancholy too. Is it Whitby?

    i am sort of back!

    Love and hugs xx

    • Hi Christine,
good to see you back! 🙂 Take it easy!
Thank you very much, yes it is Whitby, my husband took this pic with his mobile phone when I was having some thoughts lol. I didn’t see the pic till yesterday.

    groetjes, Francina

  9. Nice work, I love it. In the final line, did you by any chance mean ‘were’ rather than the ‘where’ that’s there now?

    • Hi Nick, thank you very much! And also for telling me about that error, I am glad you mentioned it, it should be “were” 🙂

  10. Forget the “Like” button. They need a “LOVE!” button. Wonderful little verse.

  11. Gorgeous. N.x

I like the image of thoughts just drifting off – possibly to end as a shipwreck.

  13. An ending and a beginning, both sad and hopeful, looking back and looking forward. What a lot you encapsulated in this short poem! I really like it, especially the idea of calmly letting go of thoughts.

  14. Letting some thoughts drift away…a poignantly calm way to open ourselves to new things, I think.

I really enjoyed this one, Ina!

  15. enjoyed this, Ina

  16. Lovely Ina~

  17. Elegantly said-even a goodbye deserves respect…
