Bride

Bright,
as if it had never been here before
the light after a lovemaking hour
was peeking through the curtains, kissed your face
but you slept on, breathing calmly, your pace.

You turned, while I went to take a shower
only to come back, sleep with you once more.

Now,
light slowly leaves us alone to rest.
Your arms around me, I hear your heart beat,
a reminder that all this will go too,
but it is hard thinking of losing you.

I have to forget mortality, need
to think of the now, and hope for the best.

Bride,
is the word, and I was, I will be
your bride, in the morning, the night, the day
if you’ll have me, forever I shall be
your bride, and you will be lover to me.

Now sleep, I will wait, in my dreams anyway
till you come for more loving, gratefully.

😉

  1. Ina, this is absolutely beautiful, dripping with feeling and emotion, a lot of truths encapsulated here, too, the fact that we’re here only for a short time.

  2. Beautifully intimately expressed Ina.

This was the first thing in my inbox this morning, and it has set a wonderful tone for the day! I love it. Thank you for sharing it with us, Ina! : )

  4. Ina,

This is so lovely, full of emotion and I can so easily picture the scene from your words.

Your first stanza sets the scene perfectly and is just beautiful!

    Love and hugs

    • Hi Christine,
thank you very much 🙂 In a few days (12) it will be our 12 and a half anniversary and this made me think about the meaning of the word ‘bride’. I suppose this is it? lol.

      Love and hugs
      Ina

  5. Congratulations and thank you for the smiles this morning.

  6. What a beautiful, gentle love poem, Ina. It is a poem that tells us that long term love still means the most in this nanosecond by nanosecond world.

    • Hi Thomas, thank you very much 🙂 Maybe it does seem oldfashined, but I think that kind of love is great 🙂

  7. beautiful poem, Ina!

    groetjes,
    francina

  8. A beautiful, gentle, re-assuring love poem.

  9. Absolutely, lyrically, simply beautiful! Speaks of both infinite and finite loving.

    My favorite line:

    ‘I hear your heart beat,
a reminder that all this will go too’
