Once I let in the world

Once I let in the world, my thoughts not bound by language anymore
they took me into gardens filled with flowers that were mine to pick
I wondered free over the plains of others
to make me live the feelings of the other more and deeper.

They took me into gardens filled with flowers that were mine to pick
and even down the ocean they would blossom
as everywhere there’s more to find of live and living on.

I wondered free over the plains of others,
over deserts I would ponder, wondering how live
could there exist, a place so empty but some flowers grow there.

To make me live the feelings of the other more and deeper
as everywhere there’s truth to find in life and living,
once I let in the world, my thoughts were free.

  1. This is lovely Ina!

What form of poem is this? I have seen it before but can’t remember.

    Love and hugs

    xx

    • Hi Christine, thank you, it is trimeric I think, not sure; if it is not, it is a free verse lol.

      Love and hugs! 🙂

  2. You do these extremely well.

This one leads me off into ponderings of my own – I loved that.

    Love

    David

    • Hi David, thank you 🙂 I couldn’t decide what rhythm to use and it ended up a bit un-rhythmic I think, but maybe I will fix it one day.
I hope you had nice ponderings 🙂

      Love and a big hug

      Ina

  3. Brilliantly written poem. Great stuff

  4. I really like the line (and the idea of) ‘thoughts not being bound by language anymore’. Just this morning on the radio I heard a woman discussing the fact that babies think, but they do not have the language to ‘label’ or describe what they are thinking about. Something I can’t quite get my head around, but I wondered, as I listened, if the way we think and use our imagination becomes more or less limited in some ways as we acquire language? Your poem begins to explore that concept, and I find that very interesting.

    • Hi, thank you for your great comment. I think if we let go the idea that we think only in language, words, sentences, we can communicate better. If we open up to images and sound, music, scent.
Interesting to know that about babies, if we can learn to remember in sound, music, scent, without language, we could recall what we thought when we were babies! And, even better, understand maybe what babies think.
      🙂
