Better times

Of all that mattered, nothing much remained
of times we struggled to be justified in our existence.
I know you are downstairs, and I am here,
that’s it and it can not be denied.
There’s a calm determination
for the better in your pass,
as I hear your footsteps through the room.
I know you’re there and I am here,
and nothing else does matter. We live,
we are together. To hell with doom.
