Lost to dementia

I felt your hand in mine one day
All we once said is gone from words
I don’t know how to go away
The words we said they wouldn’t stay
All we once were now bleeds and hurts
I felt your hand in mine one day
That what I fear to hear you say
I hear it sung by bleeding birds
I don’t know how to go away
The light seems darker now than grey
Now I can’t find the final words
I felt your hand in mine one day
I want it back if I just may
No matter how your clinging hurts
I don’t know how to go away
Demented love, one big decay
All we once said is gone from words
I felt your hand in mine one day
I don’t know how to go away

    • (I had spelled villanelle wrong in the tag! )

Hi Christine, yes, somehow writing a villanelle that is not sad, seems impossible. I will keep trying! Thank you very much! 🙂

      Love and hugs!
