longing for nostalgia

~{}~

Remember those days of nostalgia

How we loved flea market treasures

And bread from old bakery’s

What a great time we had

With  rented movies in black and white

Listening to cd’s of old Vera Lynn recordings

And I wore that grandmother’s dress

But the nostalgia is gone

altogether now

Only the memory stays

    You are probably right Ina.

Yet when I go sit by the side of the sea where every thing is ever changing yet everything remains always the same I can bring out those memories to keep me warm 🙂

Hah! There is a poem in my comment methinks – Later 🙂

there’s something altogether sad about that. but it’s beautiful 🙂 xx

    • Thank you! Well it was meant to be funny more than sad, nostalgia already being a longing for what has been…

      Still learning 🙂

I am a very nostalgic person and I enjoyed this poem. I also love each day, and I think I appreciate each day because I remember the day to day things in the past were often the most precious. Keep on writing!

  4. As the old saying goes: Nostalgia isn’t what it used to be. And as David said in his poem a few days ago, not everything they call ‘progress’ is an improvement. That’s why my favourite bike (I have five) is the one designed in the 1940s; they really knew how to build a machine back then. Enjoyed this poem very much, Ina – thank you.

    • In fact most of the old fashioned designs are better. Take the glass milk bottle compared to the paper stuff now, also architecture, quality of fabrics, etc.

lol but if we don’t want to end up sour, we should forget about being too nostaligic perhaps 🙂

  5. Nostalgia has always been a huge part of my life. Bittersweet at the end, but a bit hopeful I think. Beautiful nonetheless 🙂

    • Thank you! 🙂 Sometimes the past looks nicer. We are living in the past of the future, so one day we will cherish this time and life as such. 😕
